■はじめに Introduction

「ふくろう君とにゃんこ嬢」はエドワード・リアが書いたノンセンス詩。初出は1871年。

とりとめもない詩ですが、リズムが良くて昔から大人にも子供にも人気があります。好きなように節をつけて歌うと、ちょっぴり幸せになれます。

詩や歌の翻訳ほど難しいものはありません。下に掲げる訳者の方々は、その困難な課題に果敢に挑戦しています。引用するのは、詩の最後の一節です。
